I was for a checkup multiple times at Hamilton General Hospital in last 4 years (4th-floor cardio or main floor echocardiogram) and I was always treated with respect, professionalism and in timely manner. Good work. Thank you.

I felt compelled to write this review after our experience. I brought my girlfriend to this hospital on March 3, 2026, as a last resort. I can look past a dirty waiting room, but what I can’t overlook is the level of disrespect we encountered from staff. I’ve never experienced such rude and dismissive behavior from healthcare professionals. The lack of compassion we received at triage was honestly shocking. When people come to a hospital, they’re often already stressed or worried — the way we were treated only made things worse. I strongly recommend that management address this with their staff. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable in a healthcare setting.

On this day 04/02/2026 around 7:30 A.M. I was experiencing a heaviness in my chest area. ( followed over from the night before). I called 911, and Fire Department and EMS Team (Paramedics) were at my residence within 9-10 minutes. Explained my situation, EMS took all my vitals, explained to EMS that I wasn’t fond of going to the General Hospital, because of past bad experiences. I was scheduled to go to St. Joseph’s Hospital, but because of my abnormal ECG readings in the Ambulance, my destination was diverted to the Hamilton General Hospital (specialized in heart issues). EMS drivers were very kind and provided professional and competent services, upon entrance in the Hospital, I was immediately taken into an ER room for observation and tests. Services for a weekend, were very impressive! Was treated kindly, respectful and accompanied by the professional nurses and Doctors in this Department on this day. Doctors ordered many blood tests, chest X-ray and a C-T Scan to rule everything out. While waiting in an ER bed in the ER ward, all ER Nurses that were working that day, were all kind and accommodating and making you comfortable (while awaiting your results and the ER Doctor to come to a diagnosis. After about 4 1/2 hours in ER, the friendly and accommodating ER Doctor came to my bed, and explained to me his findings, no apparent signs of a heart attack and blood tests came back normal. Told me, that I wasn’t found with any issues, and discharged me and no need to be hospitalized. The ER Nurses unhooked all my IV’s and I was on my way home, relieved that I had been cleared of any Heart attack issues. Thank-You to: All who were involved on this day of reassurance to our Medical System in Canada!

We had a very disappointing experience at Hamilton General Hospital Emergency. My wife was treated here for a hand fracture and had to go through the procedure twice. Even during follow-up visits, she repeatedly complained about ongoing pain and stiffness, but her concerns were not taken seriously. No proper assessment was done, and no guidance was provided. We ourselves had to ask about physiotherapy, but even that was not suggested proactively. Eventually, we consulted a physiotherapist on our own, and only then did an X-ray reveal that the joint gap had reduced, leading to permanent damage. This could have been avoided with proper care, attention, and timely advice. We trusted the system, but unfortunately, we feel let down. I hope no one else has to go through this kind of experience.
